Our next Dis/Representation: Evolving Disability Conversations event will feature a film and discussion surrounding a Portland ReelAbilities film:
“Jonah Stands Up” – New Orleans artist, activist, and comedian Jonah Bascle, was born with muscular dystrophy, faces his mortality. With a combination of humor, art, and grand gestures, he tries to communicate his life situation while challenging the stereotypes associated with him.

ReelAbilities is dedicated to sharing the stories, lives and art of people with disabilities. It consists of award-winning films of the highest cinematic and artistic quality and is hosted in cities across the country. We are excited to bring these films back to Portland!
Unlike other film festivals, all our films are captioned, and we provide audio description and ASL interpreters at film showings.
